How do these panels work?
These panels convert the sun’s energy to electricity through an MPPT (maximum power point tracking) controller. This MPPT controller ensures that maximum performance from your solar panel(s) is attained. There is up to a 30% increase in efficiency with the MPPT controller. Additionally, the Solar Drive canopy is the ONLY solar product designed with all the necessary components to deal effectively with a moving application.
What types of panels do you offer and which would be best for my needs?
We offer 200 W to 400 W canopies. We would look at your needs and make recommendations. For example, if you are outfitting larger people-moving vehicles, we would recommend 300 and 400 W. 100 W panels are added as needed.
Can I install the Solar Drive canopy myself?
Of course you can. We will gladly guide you through the process.
Do your Solar Drive canopies need maintenance?
Our solar panels only need to be cleaned with a soft cloth and some soap and water. The performance of our solar panels is guaranteed for 15 years by the manufacturer.
What are LSV's? (Low Speed Vehicle or NEV Neighborhood Electric Vehicle)
Transport Canada regulates what qualifies as a LSV in Canada. They must be electric and meet a number of standard requirements. (seat belts, minimum and maximum speeds, glass specifications, signal lights, brakes, horn etc.) Tomberlin products meet and exceed Transport Canada's requirements for Low Speed Vehicle certification.
Are LSV's allowed on the roads in Canada?
Each area is responsible for their own legislation as it pertains to Low Speed Vehicles. Transport Canada recommends their use on roads that have maximum speeds of 40kmh per hour or in some cases 50 kmh per hour.
What warranties are there on your products?
Manufacturers warranties on Tomberlin products are 4 years and the panels used in Solar Drive canopies are warranted for 15 years.
Is there financing available on "Fleet" purchases?
Yes, we have several lease/own programs for municipalities and golf courses. Please inquire directly to Canadian Solar Golf & LSV Distributors for leasing options.
